Lucknow: Diya Bheemaiah teamed up with Bjorn Jaison to capture the Mixed Doubles crown at the Dr. Akhilesh Das Gupta Memorial All India Senior Ranking Badminton Tournament 2025.
The pair showcased remarkable composure in the finals, overcoming the challenge posed by Dhileepan V and Pranavi N. After dropping the first game 17-22, Diya and Jaison fought back strongly to win the next two games, sealing the victory with a final score of 17-21, 22-20, 21-14.

The win adds another feather to Diya’s phenomenal performance this year. She was also the Women’s Double semi finalist in the same tournament. At 17, Diya is showing remarkable maturity in her consistent performance at the National Level.
These recent experiences that she has been through is the “process” by which players eventually become champions!
Diya is talented, hard working, ambitious and deeply passionate about the game. She will learn, on her terms, how to win, how and when to take risks, understand when she needs to assess her opponent and learn the nuances of what it takes to become a Champ in her pursuit of winning the Individual Singles crown. She already has a strong fan following within the community and in Mysore.

Congratulations Diya!
Proud moment for the parents who are totally involved and committed to their daughter’s progress. I see many parents in cities who force kids to join cricket, Badminton has not received the recognition it deserves.
Hyderabad has produced players like P V Sindhu, Saina Nehwal, Jwala Gutta and few more thanks to efforts by Pullela Gopichand in training most of them at Gopichand academy. World class infrastructure needs to be created even in Kodagu where an integrated facility for Hockey and Badminton can be set up by the Government.
Our current elected leaders are active and influential.
Diya can literally show “light” to budding players.
We have too many Nammes in Kodagu. Family Hockey is fine – but then we have Cricket, Tug-of-war, Carrom, Rifle Shooting, Marathon, Football, Golf and more. It is time we had a Namme that encourages HARD WORK.
Hard work generates success; “entitled” attitude creates Heroes from Zero. There is a dire need for proper support of our talented youth – where we back REAL HIGH CALIBER POTENTIAL and not obscure sports (with due respect) like Roller Skating, Motor Bike Racing – which are difficult and expensive.
It is also important that our talented elders stepped forward to nurture, mentor and help really talented youngsters to succeed. But even in a sport like Hockey, where we have so many experienced former International players, the KHA is plagued by political overtones and unwanted intrigue.
Diya needs to be supported by the community, and we MUST step forward, raise our hand and support such exceptional talent.
Heartfelt congratulations to Diya on her remarkable achievement. Her dedication and discipline are truly commendable.
As mentioned by CLN many times, to reach the greater heights, supporters and well wishers must come forward to provide her with guidance and resources she deserves
With the right backing, Diya can shine on the biggest stages and make Kodagu and India proud.
Congratulations to Diya on her remarkable achievement….
As highlighted many times, Coorg is in need of a dedicated Coorg Sports Fund to identify, nurture and support such promising talents. It is my hope that philanthropists and well-wishers will come forward to provide the necessary support for Diya and others to compete at the highest level.
Wins like this reflect the consistency in Diya Bheemaiah’s progress. The growing depth of talent in Indian badminton is phenomenal, and it requires great tenacity to turn in such performances on a regular basis – the hallmark in the making of a champion.
Heartiest congratulations Diya and Bjorn on this wonderful achievement! 🎉 Diya, your determination and passion for the game are truly inspiring. Wishing you both continued success and many more titles ahead!
Heartiest congratulations to Diya Bheemaiah and Bjorn Jaison on winning the Mixed Doubles crown! Diya, hailing from Coorg and representing Karnataka, has once again shown her talent, determination, and maturity well beyond her years. At just 17, she continues to make her community proud with consistent performances at the national level. Wishing her many more milestones on her journey towards becoming a champion.
It’s encouraging to see young players rising through national-level tournaments and delivering such high-quality matches. And that she is a Kodavathi makes our hearts swell with pride. Well done Diya – select your tournaments carefully and pace your progress. You have a great supporting team – especially your parents!
