Air Vice Marshal Bijo John Mammen, Senior Officer-in-Charge Administration, Training Command, Indian Air Force, Bangalore and Chairman, Local Board of Administration, Sainik School Kodagu chaired the 29th meeting of the Local Board of Administration of Sainik School Kodagu on 04 Sep 25.

The Chairman was escorted by the Horse Cavalcade to the War Memorial, where he laid a wreath and paid homage to the war heroes. He was then formally received by Col Amar Jeet Singh, Principal, Sainik School Kodagu and Wg Cdr Prakash Rao, the Administrative Officer of the school.

The Chairman inaugurated the newly installed Flag Mast at the Wall of Heroes. On arrival at the Parade Tarmac, a ceremonial Guard of Honour was accorded to the Chairman.
A special assembly was organised in the honour of Air Vice Marshal Bijo John Mammen, which began with a welcome dance by the girl cadets. ‘Kodagian’- The School’s Annual Magazine was released on this occasion. Mr N Subbarangaiah and Mr Dada D Kusnale, two of the Science teachers of the school were awarded with Best Teachers Award for the Year 2024-25. Girl cadets, who won medals at All India Sainik Schools National games were also honoured. At the end of the programme Air Vice Marshal Bijo John Memmon addressed the cadets and staff. In his speech, The LBA Chairman highlighted the remarkable growth of Sainik School Kodagu, praising its achievements in academics, sports, and cultural activities, especially the success in NDA examinations. Recent infrastructural upgrades and teacher training initiatives were commended as milestones of progress. The cadets were urged to remain disciplined, dedicated, and patriotic as they prepare to become future leaders of the nation.

AVM Bijo John Mammen inaugurated newly built SHIKHAR classroom, an exclusive and dedicated resource room for NDA aspirants at KMP Hall and Upgraded Robotic Lab at Ved Vyas Block. Rear Admiral RM Purandare VSM (Retd), Mrs Eliza Memmon , Mrs Divya Singh were present on the occasion.


The occasion was graced with various LBA members. On behalf of Shri Venkata Raja IAS, DC Kodagu District, Shri AC Nitin Chakki,  A C Kodagu attended the LBA Meeting. Dr M P Sadashiv, an educationist from University of Mysore, Mrs B N Pushpa, Lecturer, DIET represented DDPI, Kodagu Dist. Pradyumna Kumar Sethy, Principal, RlE, Mysore, Sri Amol Namdeo, Executive Engineer, CPWD, Mysore, Sri Sampath Kumar Sharma, Parent Member, Wg Cdr Prakash Rao, Administrative Officer of the school  were present in the Local Board of Administration Meeting. Col Amar Jeet Singh, Principal and Member Secretary briefed all the training and administrative aspects of the school and the progress made in the past six months. The members deliberated and arrived at various policy decisions for future development of the school.
In post Lunch session, The Chairman, LBA interacted with the cadets of class 12 and witnessed display and demonstration of Tamate an art form, Lezim drill skills, and Kalari Payattu, a famous martial art form of Kerala which were an amalgamation of traditional and modern skills. The Chief Guest and dignitaries appreciated the cadets’ discipline, cultural pride, and innovation, encouraging them to pursue excellence in all endeavours.
