The Indian Postal Department, in association with the Kodagu Division Forest Department, released a special postal envelope on the occasion of World Elephant Day 2025.  The envelope was carried by an elephant named Harsha during the programme held at Dubare Elephant Camp.

Forest Department officials including the CCF of Kodagu Circle, DCF of Madikeri Division, ACF of Madikeri, RFO of Kushalnagar Division, Superintendent of Kodagu Division of the Postal Department, Assistant Superintendent of Posts and other officers of the two departments were present on the occasion.

Dubare Elephant Camp, located in Kushalnagar in the Madikeri Division of Kodagu District, is home to about 34 Asiatic elephants. The primary objective of the camp is to protect, capture, relocate and tame wild elephants. Injured wild elephants and orphaned elephant calves are also brought here for care and nurturing. The camp also serves as a centre for conservation education and eco-tourism for wildlife enthusiasts and urban visitors. Elephants trained here are sent to participate in the world-famous Mysore Dasara Ambari procession, said the Kodagu Division Postmaster.
