Applications Invited from Farmers and Women Farmers for the Agriculture AwardWith the objective of increasing productivity in the agricultural sector and encouraging a spirit of healthy competition among farmers, the Agriculture Department is implementing the Agriculture Production Award Scheme. Like every year, applications have been invited for the year 2025-26 from farmers and women farmers separately for the crop competition in paddy (rainfed.

The entry fee for the Agriculture Award has been abolished with effect from 2025-26. The competition crop must be cultivated in at least one acre of land. The applicant must be a self-employed farmer whose name is recorded in the revenue records and who is personally engaged in farming. Only one member from a family, whether husband, wife or dependent children, is permitted to participate.

Members serving on various committees or teams formed at the state and district levels and their family members cannot participate. Employees of any government department, university, government-owned institution, either under the Central or State Government, and their family members are also not permitted to participate.        The harvest date must be informed to the office of the concerned Assistant Director of Agriculture at least 15 days in advance. The prize money at the taluk level is Rs. 15,000 for first place, Rs. 10,000 for second place and Rs. 5,000 for third place. At the district level, the prize money is Rs. 30,000 for first place, Rs. 25,000 for second place and Rs. 20,000 for third place. At the state level, the prize money is Rs. 50,000 for first place, Rs. 40,000 for second place and Rs. 35,000 for third place. Interested farmers and women farmers may obtain the prescribed application form from the concerned Farmers’ Contact Centre or the office of the Assistant Director of Agriculture.

The application must be submitted along with the land title deed obtained from the Revenue Department. The last date for submission of applications is August 31, informed Chandrashekhar, Joint Director of the Agriculture Department.
