JULY 13th 2025, probably is the darkest day for Mysore as, Mysore on this day lost its brightest STAR with the passing away of K.B. GANAPATHY. KBG was an institution by himself who built Star of Mysore Eveninger and MYSURU MITRA, all by himself through great vision, foresight, sheer grit, hardwork and Journalistic brilliance and grey matter. Probably I may not be wrong if I say there isnt a Mysorean who doesnt subscribe or read the eveninger STAR OF MYSORE or MYSORE MITRA. That was the power of the Eveninger he built.
The journalism as practiced by KGB is very rare today and journalists like him are a dying tribe. KBG apart from being a great journalist had tremendous concern for social issues and he never ever wrote for fame or image boosting.
KBG aka Gandhi uncle was a great supporter of Rotary Mysore West, the club to which I belong to and was always very encouraging in our activities by giving front page coverage and HEADLINE STORY OF ALL OUR FUND RAISING ACTIVITIES be it NEEDS Consumer Fair, ROTOWHEELS Auto Show, ROTOGYAAN Education Fair, GOBEYOND Tourism & Lifestyle Fair or MUTHUKKAD MAGIC SHOW, he would ensure we got fantastic FRONT PAGE COVERAGE which brought us the much required huge crowds for our shows, which also ensured we did very well in our FUND RAISERS.
Personally it’s a great loss to me and Also to MYSORE WHICH HAS LOST ITS BRIGHTEST STAR.
MYSORE SHALL NEVER BE THE SAME WITHOUT KBG WHO WAS AN ICON OF MYSORE CITY.
