State Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao speaking at the Muddanda Cup Final Tournament in Madikeri said that 25 years of Kodava Family Hockey Tournament is a historic achievement in the history of the country’s sports arena and added that the interest shown by Kodava people in sports is the reason for Kodava family hockey tournament’s success in a big way.
No other community has contributed so much to sports in the country, expect the Kodavas despite being a such a small community.
We will cooperate in allocating more funds to Kodava Family Hockey from the government, he said.
Dinesh Gundu Rao also informed the crowd that when his father the Late Chief Minister Gundu Rao allocated a site to hockey legend M.P. Ganesh ( Mollera Poovaiah Ganesh) in Bangalore, Ganesh constructed a sports academy there, instead of a house for himself. Ganesh’s actions are remarkable and commendable, Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao said.
