Tensions escalated in Kushalnagar as police detained BJP leaders, including Ex-MP Pratap Simha, during the protest against congress government near the local police station. The protestors were demanding that Madikeri MLA Mantar Gowda & Virajpet MLA A S Ponnappa should be name in the FIR for Vinay Somaiah’s suicide. Over 800 officers were deployed as demonstrators gathered, leading to tension. Authorities forcibly cleared the area, taking several BJP members into preventive custody. The incident occurred amid preparations for Vinay Somaiah’s funeral. BJP politicians accused the police officers of heavy-handedness. Further details on charges or protest motives are awaited.
