High level Karnataka assembly members panel inspect retaining wall of Madikeri DC’s Office

Members of the panel committee of the Karnataka assembly and members of the assembly S. Suresh Kumar, A. Manju, Suresh Babu C.V., Dr.Mantar Gowda and Mahendra Kallappa Tammannavara recently removed the barricade near the district administration building in the city. Kodagu Deputy Commissioner Dr Venkat Raja, District Superintendent of Police (SP) K. Ramarajan, ZP CEO Varnith Negi, Deputy Divisional Officer Vinayak Narvade, Public Works Department Secretary Satyanarayana, Estimates Committee member Jayaprasad, Member Bhurji, Indian Institute of Science Professor Shivakumar and others viewed the retaining wall and gave information to the committee members. 

Later, in the office hall of the Deputy Commissioner, the Committee member had a long discussion with various levels of officials including engineers of the Public Works Department, professors of the Indian Institute of Science, obtained information and gave necessary directions.

Suresh Kumar, MLA and Member of Assembly Petitions Committee, gave information in a press conference that the Karnataka Assembly Petitions Committee has already held three meetings in Bangalore and discussed the fact that there was concern among the public regarding the retaining wall near the District Administration Building so  it was decided by Committee member to personally inspect the wall, he added.

Suresh Kumar further said that ‘a meeting of high-level officials was held and it was decided in the committee meeting to re-examine the outline of the total plan related to the wall. He also said that an alternative development regarding the barrier wall has been thought about and the professors of the Indian Institute of Science have been instructed to prepare a DPR and submit a report within 15 days regarding the construction of a barrier wall on the ‘bench model’ type. Suresh Kumar informed that the committee will submit a report to the government based on the report given by the technical experts. 

Dr.Mantar Gowda, MLA of Madikeri Assembly Constituency and member of the committee, said that the barrier wall near the District Administration Office had been brought to the attention of the government many times. In that regard, the members of the assembly’s Petitions committee have personally visited and checked and will take further action according to the committee’s resolutions and the report given by the technical experts. In the next rainy season, attention will be paid to avoid any kind of trouble to the public and added  that the barrier will be completed soon by drawing the attention of the government. 

On the occasion S. Suresh Kumar also spoke about the dangers of tobacco consumption and said that no one should become addict to drugs, heroin and other drugs and more awareness should be created in this regard.  Speaking further he said that one should stay away from drugs or narcotic substances and suggested that education, health, police, urban development and rural development departments should constantly monitor to control drugs and create awareness about the dangerous effect of drugs and advised everyone to fight against drugs. 

MLA Dr.Mantar Gowda said that modern technologies should be used at check posts in the border area where drug trafficking is more and strict vigil has to be made on suspected vehicles and through checking has to be done.
