Maha Shivaratri was celebrated in Kodagu district with tradional pomp and gaiety. Shiva temples were decorated on the occasion and various rituals were held at the Bhagandeshwara Temple in Bhagamandala, Iggutappa Temple in Peruru and Mahalingeshwara Temple in Paluru and Omkareshwara Temple in Madikeri.

Rudrabhisheka and various other religious ceremonies were also held on the occasion.  After Mahamangalarathi and mass feeding was organised. The annual festival and Mahashivaratri was held at Eshwara Iggutappa Temple in Peruru village. “Tulabhara’ and various other ‘sevas’ were held on the occasion. A large number of devotees visited Bhagandeshwara Temple
