Prohibition on usage of river and canal water

Kodagu Deputy Commissioner (DC) Dr.Venkat Raja keeping in view the problems of drinking water which may arise in Kodagu district in the near future, has issued an order as per Section 46 of The Karnataka Irrigation Act, 1965 and the powers conferred under Section 133 R/W Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973 with immediate effect till further orders, the illegal usage water in  rivers and streams throughout Kodagu district and  completely prohibiting un authorised private activities using pump setfor using river water for other purposes through canals.

Violation of this order is punishable under Section 51B of the Disaster Management Act, 2005, DC
