Codava Makkada Coota’s 108th book “Jenu Gudu” written by Fancy Muttanna released
During launch of the 108th book of Codava Makkada Coota and the 10th book written by Hanchetti’s Fancy Muthanna “Jenu Gudu” at Kodagu Press Club, Madikeri recently Baleyada Kalappa, Blue Dart consultant and senior sports person opined that writing has a wonderful power to change a person’s life. Books have the power to bring change in a person’s life and writers can write books for themselves or for the welfare of society. Speaking further he said that good messages should be incorporated in our life by reading more books. A habit of writing or reading will remove the dullness and differences of life. Parents play a big role in children’s lives. If the father becomes faith, the mother becomes truth, they are equal to God. Baleyada Kalappa expressed regret that today’s mankind is more interested in things and less concerned about life.
The book ‘Jenu Gudu’ released today is closer to the reality of human life and appreciated the writer that there is strength in her writing and it has also had the power of influence, Kalappa said.
Speaking on the occasion Hanchettira Fancy Muthanna, the writer of the book “Jenu Gudu” said that the book contains elements that give a good message to the society, and if the readers notice this, I will feel proud she added and requested everyone to buy the book and read it.
Director of Madikeri Kodava Samaj Boppanda Sarala Karumbaiah said that children should read more books, nowadays children have the habit of reading only English books and advised to read Kannada along with English.
She further said that the ideas which are comes to our mind are filled with emotions and are given literary form. She said that Kodava Makkada Coota’s literary interest and achievement of 108 books, which is encouraging to bring out writing in the form of books, is commendable.
Speaking on the occasion, President of Pommakkada Union of Murnadu Kodava Samaj Palanganda Rekha Thammaiah expressed her appreciation for the book “Jenu Gudu” and addedthat for literaryinterest more awards should be given.
After presiding and speaking on the occasion Bollajira B. Ayyappa, president of Codava Makkada Coota, informed that the thebook on the “1965 war and based on the life of Mahavira Chakra awardee Squadron Leader Ajjamada B. Devaiah) written by journalist A. Ramesh Uthappa is being made a film is made in Bollywood in the name of Sky Force and this film is going to be released on January 24, and added that this is a pride to Codava Makkada Coota which has published this book and it is a matter of pride to Kodagu district also.
Speaking further Ayyappa said that Codava Makkada Coota, which has already published its ambitious 100th book to the literary world and released 27 books in 2024 and earned praise from all corner. Out of 107 books published by Coota, five books have received the Karnataka Kodava Sahitya Akademi Award, Gugurelelu has received the State Award for the book, and the “Gouramma Datti Nidhi” Award for the book Agniyatra. Kodava is a movie about four books. 1500 copies of a documentary book titled ‘Biography of Sportsmen of Kodagu’ written by Cheppudira A. Caryappa were printed and given free to schools, colleges and libraries across Kodagu. Our mission is to make Kodagu children interested in sports and army. Bollajira B. Ayyappa also informed that in the coming days also the books of documentation giving priority to study and research will be brought out.

Hanchettira Fancy Muthanna’s name is prominent among Kannada writers. She has authored poetry collections “Kadu Hakkaiya Song” and “Kanavarike”, short story collection “Forest Memories” Odalu Uri” novel “Paru” in her mother tongue Kodava language and “Badkra Nade” a collection of articles “Pooballi” poetry anthology, and “Koopadi” book which has collection of short stories. Her Kodava novel “Paru” won the State Award of Kodava Sahitya Akademi. She is proud to have won the state award for her third work. “Jenu Gudu” is hir tenth work.
Born to Kollimada Gappu Ganapathy and Kollimada Lalitha Ganapathy in Kodagu district, Fancy Muthaanna did her primary, secondary and undergraduate education in Ponnampet. As a poetess, storyteller and writer, Fancy Muthanna has already won the heart of many. She has an experience of serving in Kodava Sahitya Academy, Kannada Sahitya Parishad and Karnataka Folk Parishad also.
