Rotary to give free vaccine against cervical cancer

Rotary district governor Vikram Datta addressing the media persons in Madikeri recently said that free cervical cancer vaccination would be administered to 100 female students in Kodagu district.

He further said that the vaccine, which costs Rs 2,000, would be given free of charge to 100 students and added that the consent forms have been distributed to the parents of students in schools and colleges.

He said awareness programmes had been conducted at schools and colleges in order to educate students about cervical cancer. He said that the Rotary 3181 district conference, involving Kodagu, Dakshina Kannada, Mysuru, and Chamarajanagar districts, would be held in Mangaluru on January 24, 25 and 26.

Speaking on the occasion Rotary Madikeri president Suday Nanaiah said that Rotary Madikeri had conducted three blood donation camps in the last six months and equipment had been donated to Ashwini Hospital in Madikeri. He said equipment had been provided for senior citizens under the ‘Sandhya Suraksha’ scheme and a sanitary napkin disposable machine had been installed on the premises of Madikeri’s First Grade College.
