BJP Kodagu district president Ravi Kalappa addressing the media persons in Madikeri recently said the BJP was ready to discuss the development works carried out by the party in the district.
He said that former MP Pratap Simha and two former BJP MLAs undertook numerous development worksand invited the Congress to an open discussion on these matters.
The Congress, during a recently held press meet, had claimed that the BJP is using the Waqf issue as a political weapon. But there is no truth in this. The BJP has raised its voice in favour of farmers, he added.
He mentioned that the BJP had previously issued notices regarding the removal of Waqf properties, but clarified that the notices were genuinely served to the encroachers and not farmers.
Kalappa also said that the Congress has issued notices to farmers who have been cultivating the lands for generations. After we pointed out this mistake, they are explaining it as an act by officials. If so, are the officials not under the government’s control, he questioned.
Regarding the case of intimidation against a woman in Kushalnagar by two individuals claiming to be from the Waqf Board, he called for an investigation. He stated that if it was true, those who threatened should be punished, and if not, the reason behind such false complaints should be revealed.
BJP district general secretary VK Lokesh urged support for the Waqf Amendment Bill to be introduced by the prime minister. BJP leaders Umesh Subramani and Suvin Ganapathi were present.
