Kodagu Deputy Commissioner (DC) Dr Venkat Raja recently held a meeting with the president and office bearers of Madikeri Dasara celebrations committee Dasha Mantapa committee and Karaga Utsav committee and informed to provide in writing regarding information about the route and schedule of mantaps in Madikeri well in advance. DC also said that during the procession of mantaps on Dasara day, information should be given about which mantap will move from where and information about timings also and added that it will be good for the public if there is proper information regarding the scheduled time and the procession of mantaps.
Speaking further DC said that Madikeri Dasara is very important mainly because of Karaga Utsav and procession of Dashamantaps.
Regarding usage of DJ music DC informed that loudspeaker usage rules should be followed and added that no one should forget that public interest is very important.
A PIL has already been filed against the Madikeri Dussehra loudspeaker (DJ) and everyone should be informed regarding this, DC said. In addition, if information is provided in writing about the mythology of Dashamantapa, there is a possibility that it will be included in the text book in the near future, DC said.
Speaking on the occasion, Dasha Mandapam Committee president Jagdish said that the use of loudspeakers has already been discussed with the presidents of all the mantapas, and rules have to be formulated by all the mandapams on how should use loudspeakers (DJs) on their own initiative.
Kannada actors Duniya Vijay and Upendra will take part in the Madikeri Dasara. Vijay will deliver a talk on October 10 on the role of youth in curbing drug menace, while Upendra will also share his experience, informed Madikeri Dasara committee.
Speaking on the occasion, Dasha Mandapam Committee member Rajesh informed that shops should be allowed to open only on one side of the road and if two sides of the road are opened, it will be difficult for the public to travel as well as for the Mantapps also.
Additional Superintendent of Police K S Sunderraj informed that necessary steps will be taken by the police department for smooth traffic and movement of people.
The movement of Mantaps should be carefully handled and it has to reach safely from starting point to the end point and in this regard, he advised that all mantaps should work voluntarily in the interest of the public.
Speaking further K S Sunderraj said that everyone’s cooperation is essential to celebrate Nadahabba Madikeri Dasara systematically so he requested that volunteers should be appointed by the Dasha Mantappa committees and assigned them the work of safety and success of Dussehra.
On the same occasion, Deputy Commissioner Dr VenkatRaja said to provide clear information in writing regarding the requests and demands of Dashamantapa Committee.
MLA Dr Mantar Gowda., speaking at a preparatory meeting of Madikeri Dasara festival with the officials and members of the Coffee Growers’ Association, informed that Coffee Dasara will be held on October 6th, and 7th October 2024 and added that Coffee Dasara, will benefit farmers and growers, of the district.
Speaking further he said that like Children’s Dasara, Women’s Dasara, Youth Dasara and Folk Dasara, Coffee Dasara will also attract people. MLA opined that by inviting Coffee Board Chairman Dinesh and other agricultural experts to Coffee Dasara, will benefit valuable information to growers.
Speaking on the occasion Nanda Belliappa, President of Kodagu Planters’ Association said that that Coffee Dasara was a good initiative to provide appropriate information on various agricultural issues of Kodagu’s coffee growers and requested cooperation of all the Association members for this mega event.
