A theft took place at the Sri Kote Mariamma temple in Madikeri recently and the thieves looted gold ornaments and money which was in temple offering box.
Thieves entered the temple by breaking the lock of the door and stole the jewellery worth lakhs of rupees on the idol of Mariamma Devi and the money in the offering box. Some ornaments have been left there. Moreover, this crime was done by changing the direction of the CC camera in the temple.
Madikeri town police and dog squad visited the place and conducted an inspection. The police have registered a case and are investigating to find the thieves.
