DC Dr. Venkat Raja holds video conference meeting with officials

The Kodagu Deputy Commissioner (DC) Dr Venkat Raja after holding a meeting with the officials through video conference recently and said that officials should not forget that the rain has reduced in Kodagu district for the last two-three days but the weather department has predicted that there is a possibility of more rain after the next three-four days and directed the concerned officials to take necessary precautions in sensitive areas prone to landslides and floods.  

He further informed that the officials have to be very careful for the next 10 to 15 days and in this regard, the DC suggested that they should visit the landslide and flood affected areas and inform the people about their safety there and added that the natural calamity which that happened in the nearby Kerala state of Wayanad district should not be repeated anywhere in Kodagu District.  

DC also said that protection of people and livestock is very important so it is very essential to take precautions to prevent any kind of loss of life. 

Rivers, reservoirs, ponds and ditches overflowed due to torrential rains in the month of July and due to this the ground water level has increased, therefore more precautions should be taken in sensitive areas, he said.

Necessary basic facilities should be provided at care/relief centres and directed the Tahsildar that it is very important to ensure that no complaints are received from the care centres. 

For immediate rain damage works   funds will be release from GP and DC directed EOs of TP to work as per the official guidelines of the state government.  

The DC urged the concerned engineers to provide accurate information to the district administration regarding rain damage to Public Works, Panchayat Raj, CHESCOM, schools, Anganwadi buildings and office buildings. 

Speaking on the occasion District Superintendent of Police (SP) K. Ramarajan said that the police department will always help the district administration to deal with natural calamities and the police department will cooperate at the grassroots level with various departments including the revenue department he added

ZP CEO Anand Prakash Meena informed that all kinds of measures will be taken as directed by the district administration regarding natural calamity management at TP and GP level. Tahsildars, engineers, various department officials and others participated in the video conference meeting.
