Miscreants rob Rs 6.18 lakh cash in Somwarpet

Some miscreants recently robbedRs 6.18 lakh cash from a couple traveling on a two-wheeler in Somwarpet. K M Nemiraj, who owns a shop the private bus stand in Somwarpet, and his wife Asha were returning home with the cash when the incident occurred.

It is reported that when they were on their way to Kibbetta Village, a gang of five people who arrived in a car and a motorbike, stopped their vehicle near a Convention Hall, pushed Asha, hit her on the head with a steel flask and sprinkled chilly powder on Nemiraj’s face to snatch away the bag containing money. Later, they fled the scene.

Based on a complaint from Nemiraj, a case has been registered at the Somwarpet Police Station. S P Ramarajan and other officials conducted a spot inspection.

The SP said that an investigation team headed by the ASP and DySP has been formed. The police have got the clue about the accused and they will be arrested soon, he said. Thieves are active as power disruptions have been frequent in the region.
