Who is the real Hero?

Quite recently I came across in the social media that Kodagu is the only district, where we treat movie stars as just actors not as Demigods. How fortunate are we to live in Kodagu! No race in India can claim so many Generals, so many soldiers, so many sacrifices as proportionate to their population, be it against the tyrant Tippu or the enemies across the border. This has been circulated after which Actor Darshan episode has taken the centre stage which exactly made me to think who the real hero is.CELEBRITY OR SOLDIER? Celebrities are portrayed no less than God / Goddess in our country. Why are they given so much importance? After all, they arejust like anybody else. It is because of glitz and glamour associated with them. People are in awe of them as they transport them to a dream land and are swayed by lavish lifestyles of film stars. All in all, we as humans, love and worship fantasies and abhor realities. Film stars are just given way too much importance that every festival, events, eveneconomic, scientific have at least one film representative to make it complete. We, the Indians pay attention to only the ones who we daily see in TV and we pay calculated respect. It is shame on us that we never pay tribute to our Army who work for us and does for us. For us cinema awards are greater than Padmashri awards. Should not we glorify the soldiers as heroes? Why do celebrities get more attention than our soldiers? Is that because every aspect of their life is followed, discussed and judged? We don’t realise the pain unless we see through our own eyes. That is the reason why people cry in the theatre when a film star dies on screen but don’t feel the same pain when an army man is martyred. Why? We Don’t see what happens in the border, we don’t see the dead body of our brave men, we don’t see their wounds. All we can see is a coffin covered with Indian flag.  No other profession has such a high chance of you being killed and not being there for your family. As you can imagine no amount of money can compensate a husband for not having a wife to share his life or a wife for not having a husband to share her life with, or a child for growing up without a mother or father. Actors work for money and what role they play on the screen is false and make believe. These heroic actions which we see on screen are well rehearsed with takes and retakes. The greater a screen hero, the greater is his pay pocket and the greater is his luxury living. They make money on someone else’s heroic deeds where as a soldier is so motivated that he can willingly lay down his life to defend the honour of his unit, army or nation who doesn’t seek publicity, can live in the most hazardous conditions, stay away from his wife, children and parents for months and serve with abrogated fundamental rights (no protests, no speaking media, no unions etc) why do people in India give so much importance to movie stars instead of our real heroes? Is the fascination, attraction or part of a long culture? Why are all the actors/ actresses in the film industry valued so much in the society even if you have even more inspiring people.  Why are movie actors in India given much importance when their major contribution to the society is just an entertainment? Is that because the celebrity culture is widespread and movie actors are seen as. Celebrities and people are often drawn to the glamour, charisma, and talent of actors which can lead to their elevated status in society?  For the people of Kodagu solders are our real heroes and we regard and respect them.
