Students Urged to Pursue Higher Education

Education is the foundation of a successful life, and higher education provides the pathway to a brighter future, said Colonel Sanjeev Kumar, Commanding Officer, Madikeri.

He was addressing the inaugural session of the Orientation Programme for first-year degree students of the academic year 2026-27, organised at F.M.K.M. Cariappa College in Madikeri.

Emphasising the importance of higher education, Colonel Sanjeev Kumar urged students to remain committed to their studies and strive for academic excellence. He said education not only shapes an individual’s future but also equips them to contribute meaningfully to society and the nation.

Addressing the students, he advised them to devote themselves to acquiring quality education until the age of 21, build successful careers between the ages of 21 and 40, and utilise their experience and achievements to occupy positions of leadership and responsibility between the ages of 40 and 60. He encouraged the students to make the best use of their college years and work towards building a meaningful and fulfilling life.

Presiding over the programme, Principal Prof. Major Raghav B. called upon students to set clear academic goals and remain focused on achieving them. He assured the students that the faculty of the college would provide every possible support and guidance to help them succeed.

Highlighting the importance of education as a lifelong asset, he urged students to utilise the opportunities available to them not only for their personal growth but also for the progress of the nation. He also briefed the students about the achievements of F.M.K.M. Cariappa College and the academic, co-curricular and infrastructural facilities available on the campus.

During the orientation programme, Dr. Thippeswamy, Dr. Sridhar Hegde, Ravishankar M.N., Dr. Nagaraj K.P., Dr. Vijayalatha C., Dr. Nayana Kashyap, Dr. B.S. Thalawara, Dr. Shailashree, and NCC Subedar Major Siju P. addressed the students and provided information on various aspects of academic life, student development programmes and campus activities.

College staff member Chandravathi G. and Dr. Renushree H.K. introduced the guests. Dr. Sridhar Hegde welcomed the gathering, introduced the dignitaries and proposed the vote of thanks.

All teaching and non-teaching staff members, along with first-year degree students, were present on the occasion.
