The hosting rights for the 2027 Kodava Hockey Festival (Kodava Hockey Namme) were formally handed over to the Ajjikuttira family in the presence of the presiding deity Sri Padi Igguthappa.
The ceremony was conducted by the Kodava Hockey Academy, during which Academy President Pandanda Bopanna formally transferred the hosting rights to Ajjikuttira Hockey Namme President Naren Cariappa and Virajpet MLA A.S. Ponnanna, who is the Honorary President of the 2027 festival, along with members of the Ajjikuttira family.
Prior to the handover ceremony, special prayers were offered to Sri Padi Igguthappa seeking the blessings of the deity for the successful conduct of the festival.
The occasion was attended by Kanchan Ponnanna, wife of MLA A.S. Ponnanna, along with other members of the family.
Following the religious rituals, the Kodava Hockey Academy officially presented the hosting rights to the Ajjikuttira family, marking the commencement of preparations for the internationally renowned Kodava Hockey Festival scheduled to be held in 2027.
Among those present were Kodava Hockey Academy Executive President Cheppudira Poonacha, Secretary Kulletira Beba, Director Kaliyanda Sampan Ayyappa, MuddandaRishin Subbaiah, Akhil Kodava Samaja President Pardanda Subramani, Ajjikuttira family representatives Sajan, Poonacha, Girish, Ponnappa, Prakyath, Madhu, Surendra and Harry, besides Bachamanda Raja, Lava Chinnappa, Bolanda Girish, Kodira Vinod Nanaiah, Aithitanda Prakash, Kundachira Manju Devaiah, and several other dignitaries and community members.
