The Fifth Annual Slush Field Sports (Kesarugadde Sports) Festival was organised jointly by the Virajpet and Ponnampet Taluk Hathur Vokkaligara Sangha in connection with the Kempegowda Jayanti celebrations.
The sports festival was inaugurated by Kanchan Ponnanna, wife of Virajpet MLA A.S. Ponnanna.
Addressing the gathering, Kanchan Ponnanna conveyed the greetings and best wishes of the MLA, explaining that he was unable to attend the inaugural programme owing to official commitments and had requested her to represent him. She appreciated the organisers for conducting the sports festival and encouraging rural sporting talent by providing a platform for athletes from the region. She also conveyed the MLA’s appreciation for the efforts of the organisers in promoting sports at the grassroots level and wished the participants success in the competitions.
Among those present were Virajpet and Ponnampet Vokkaligara Yuva Vedike President Madhusudhan V.G., Kesarugadde Sports Festival President H.D. Srinivas, HathurVokkaligara Sangha President H.G. Anil Kumar, Doddamane Keerthi Kiran, office-bearers of the Vokkaligara Sangha, sportspersons, sports enthusiasts and several prominent members of the community.
