The Kodagu District Police Department, in association with the NSS units of Field Marshal K.M. Cariappa College, Madikeri, jointly organized an awareness lecture on “Drug Abuse and Drug-Free District”.
Circle Inspector P.K. Raju participated as the chief guest and created awareness among students about the increasing use of alcohol and drugs among youth and their ill effects. He also provided students with various helpline numbers that can be used in emergency situations and shared information about the KSP App.

On the same occasion, information about the “Sammitra App” was provided. Students were informed that by sharing details about drug abusers, they can contribute to eradicating the problem from society.
Major Prof. Raghava B., who presided over the programme, addressed the gathering and called upon everyone to work collectively to make the district drug-free. He warned students about the harmful effects of drug use and advised them to take social responsibility by informing the police, parents, or teachers if they come across drug users or suppliers.

During the programme, Chief Guest P.K. Raju administered a pledge to the students: “Stay away from addiction, enjoy life”.
M.D. Ganesh, ASI, was also present at the programme. Dr. Pradeep R. Bhandari delivered the welcome address, and the vote of thanks was proposed by NSS Officer Alok Bejai. Dr. Shailashree K., NSS Programme Officer, other police personnel, NSS leaders, volunteers, and students from various departments were present.
