Kodagu District Police have arrested 20 accused in connection with nine theft cases reported across various police stations during 2025-26, Superintendent of Police R.N. Bindu Mani said.
Addressing a press conference at the District Police Bhavan, the SP stated that substantial property has been recovered from the accused.
This includes 228.19 grams of gold ornaments, 2.422 kg of silver ornaments, Rs 6.97 lakh in cash, 6,495 kg of coffee, 75 kg of black pepper, five bags of parchment coffee, two cars, one two-wheeler, and five mobile phones.
Additionally, 54 mobile phones have been recovered in cases of lost devices.
The recovered items are being returned to their rightful owners after completing legal procedures. The department has maintained detailed records and contacted the concerned individuals.
The SP commended the efforts of police personnel and investigators for their role in solving the cases and recovering stolen property.
She also advised the public to promptly report lost mobile phones at the nearest police station to facilitate recovery.
Following the press conference, the SP handed over recovered valuables, including gold ornaments, cash, and mobile phones, to the respective owners. Police officers and staff from various stations were present.
