The UKO organisation felicitated Virajpet MLA and Chief Minister’s Legal Advisor Ajjikuttira S. Ponnanna following the announcement of the establishment of the Kodava Development Corporation in the Karnataka State Budget.
The State Government announced the formation of the corporation on the first day of the budget session, a move attributed to the efforts of the MLA. The felicitation was organised in Gonikoppal when the MLA arrived in the constituency after attending the first day of the Assembly session.
Members of the UKO organisation welcomed Ponnanna and honoured him in recognition of his role in facilitating the announcement.
The Kodava community has long demanded the establishment of a corporation aimed at the development of the linguistic minority community, known for its unique and ancient culture. During the election campaign, Ponnanna had promised to work towards establishing such a corporation if elected.
With the announcement made through the Chief Minister during the Assembly session, the promise has now been fulfilled, drawing appreciation across Kodagu district, particularly among the Kodava community.
On the occasion, UKO President Manju Chinnappa was also felicitated. Kanchan Ponnanna and others were present.
