DC Directs Officials to Ensure Smooth Conduct

Kodagu Deputy Commissioner S.J. Somashekar chaired a preliminary meeting at the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Madikeri regarding the conduct of SSLC Examination-1 for the current academic year.

The Deputy Commissioner directed concerned officials to ensure that the examinations, scheduled to be held from March 18 to April 2, are conducted smoothly without any lapses.

He said that, as in previous years, the examinations should be conducted in an orderly and transparent manner. While improving pass percentages is important, he emphasized that maintaining the quality of education is equally essential.

He noted that teachers play a crucial role in shaping students and stressed the importance of focusing on the overall development of children.

He also directed that CCTV cameras be installed at examination centres and that they function properly, with technical staff deployed to ensure there are no technical issues.

Deputy Director of the School Education Department Basavaraju informed that 6,183 students will appear for the SSLC examination in the district this year. Of these, 3,049 are boys and 3,134 are girls. Additionally, 399 repeat students will also take the examination.

He said the examination will be conducted at 28 centres across the district, including eight in Madikeri, eight in Virajpet, and twelve in Somwarpet.

Necessary arrangements have been made in coordination with various departments, including installation of CCTV cameras, provision of drinking water, lighting systems, toilets, deployment of nurses, and police security.

Zilla Panchayat CEO Anand Prakash Meena said students have studied hard and care should be taken to ensure they do not face any injustice. He added that examinations should not create fear among students and those who have studied the syllabus should be able to write the exams confidently.

District SSLC Examination Nodal Officer Bindu informed that all required facilities have been arranged at examination centres, including furniture, internet-connected CCTV systems, clean drinking water, toilets, air-conditioned rooms where required, and facilities for children with special needs.

Officials including chief superintendents, deputy chief superintendents, custodians, transport vigilance teams, route officers and room supervisors have been appointed for examination duty.

District Treasurer Raghunath, field education officers, headmasters of government, aided and unaided schools, vigilance teachers, question paper custodians and taluk nodal officers were present.
