MP Yaduveer Wodeyar recently met Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman regarding a petition submitted by the Kodagu Coffee Growers Cooperative Society Limited seeking a waiver of interest payable to the Coffee Board of India.

In the interest of protecting small coffee growers and preserving this important cooperative institution, and in line with the assurance given in 2015, the MP requested the Union Minister to intervene and recommend waiving the interest payable by the society to the Coffee Board.

Speaking on the occasion, Yaduveer stated that the Minister’s timely intervention would help safeguard the livelihoods of thousands of coffee growers and workers in Kodagu and sustain the cooperative, which has been serving the community for nearly seven decades.
