Central trade unions and independent labourorganisations staged a massive protest demanding withdrawal of the four labour codes and restoration of the Mahatma Gandhi NREGA scheme.

Hundreds marched from the Old Private Bus Stand to Gandhi Maidan under the leadership of the Joint Action Committee.

CITU District Secretary P.R. Bharath alleged that 21 labour laws have been consolidated into four codes, curtailing workers’ rights. Leaders accused the Centre of implementing the codes despite nationwide opposition.

A memorandum was submitted to Additional Deputy Commissioner R. Aishwarya.
