Ban on Open Defecation Enforced in Madikeri

The Municipal Corporation has strictly enforced Open Defecation Free (ODF) and ODF+ protocols in all 23 wards under its jurisdiction.

Municipal Commissioner H.R. Ramesh stated that open defecation and urination are strictly prohibited.

A fine of Rs 500 will be imposed for open urination, Rs 1,000 for open defecation and Rs 2,000 for discharge of sewage into public drains, along with legal action.

Residents and commercial establishments have been urged to utilise the municipal suction machine facility for septic tank cleaning.
