As per the directions of the National Legal Services Authority, New Delhi, and the Karnataka State Legal Services Authority, Bengaluru, a National Lok Adalat was conducted on December 13 in all courts across Karnataka, including Kodagu district, with the objective of settling pending and pre-litigation cases through conciliation.
In cases related to the Transport Department pending from 1991-92 to 2019-20, a 50 per cent concession was granted, resulting in the settlement of 29 cases across the district and recovery of Rs. 4,00,000.
As of November 30, 2025, a total of 18,049 cases were pending in Kodagu district and taluk courts, including 6,361 civil cases and 11,688 criminal cases. Of these, 5,754 were conciliatory cases, and 3,321 cases were taken up for conciliation. Out of these, 2,553 cases were successfully settled during the Lok Adalat.
In family dispute matters, six couples resolved their matrimonial disputes and reunited through the Lok Adalat process.
Overall, 2,553 pending cases and 12,297 pre-litigation cases were settled, bringing the total to 14,850 cases. The total settlement amount in these cases was Rs. 53,75,54,248. Fourteen benches functioned across the district, with judges, advocates, court staff, insurance company officials and bank representatives actively participating.
Senior Civil Judge and District Legal Services Authority Member Secretary Shubha informed that the Lok Adalat was attended by Hon’ble High Court judges and the Administrative Judges of Kodagu district.
