Those who retired from the armed forces after less than fifteen years of service and were denied pension are eligible under the special pension facility and should avail it, said Kottukathira Somanna, honorary president of the Kodagu unit of the All Karnataka Ex-Servicemen’s Association.

Addressing a press conference, he said the scheme provides Rs 8,000 per month. To be eligible, beneficiaries must have an annual income below Rs 80,000 and must not own more than four acres of land.

Eligible ex-servicemen may apply through the Sainik Board by submitting their discharge certificate, Sainik Board ID card, Aadhaar, PAN and income proof. Details can be obtained by contacting 9448447158.

He added that many ex-servicemen were unaware of this scheme earlier and had missed the benefit. He also said that financially weak ex-servicemen whose children are studying medicine or engineering may seek support from Devaprabhu of Gadag at 8660737534.

Talur Kalappa, coordinator of the Kodagu unit of the association, was present.
