The district administration has taken steps to make the stretch near Anekadu Reserve Forest on the Kushalnagar-Madikeri highway an accident-free zone.
Frequent road accidents have been reported near Anekadu, between Kushalnagar, Basavanahalli and Hosakote. Following a request from Kushalnagar traffic police officers to the local MLA and district police officials, work is now under way through the National Highways authorities to construct speed breakers at six locations. The measures are intended to control vehicle speeds and prevent accidents.
Following a recent series of road accidents, Kushalnagar Police Inspector Pradeep Kumar inspected the spot and submitted a report to the National Highways authorities, the Superintendent of Police, the Deputy Commissioner and the local MLA. Senior officials subsequently visited the site with the MLA and inspected the area. Construction of speed breakers is now progressing rapidly to reduce vehicle speeds along this stretch.
