MLA Dr. Mantar Gowda has stated that a complaint has been lodged with election authorities seeking an investigation into alleged irregularities during the special revision of the electoral rolls within the Byadagotta Gram Panchayat limits.
Addressing a press conference in the city on Friday, he alleged that a single individual had signed ten Form No. 7 applications each, amounting to approximately 60 to 65 forms, across Booth No. 20 (the old booth) and Booth No. 21 (the new booth) in the Byadagotta Gram Panchayat area.
He stated that the information had been brought to light by a booth-level officer from his party. Referring to an audio clip circulating on social media, he said that a woman could allegedly be heard stating that Form No. 7 applications were issued from a party office. He further claimed that similar incidents had been reported elsewhere.
Dr. Mantar Gowda said that such actions constitute an offence under election laws and are punishable with imprisonment of up to one year, a fine, or both.Emphasizing that voting is both a right and a responsibility, he said that any deliberate attempt to misuse the electoral process for political gain is unacceptable and cannot be condoned.Congress District President Dharmaja Uthappa and other party leaders were present at the press conference.
