Recently, on 31 July 2026, Dr. K B Cariappa, former Dean & Director and former Principal of Kodagu Institute of Medical Sciences who also held the positions of Medical Superintendent and District Surgeon officially concluded his services to the government and duty towards the people of Kodagu, after completing his tenure of 12 years with distinction, having led the institution through multiples stages of development, enhanced health care and improved courses.
Dr. Cariappa was appointed Dean & Director of KOIMS on 10 December 2019, following which he oversaw operations during the COVID-19 Pandemic. He was also the in-charge Dean-Director during the 2018 floods.
Dr. Cariappa’s official farewell was attended by the respected Dean & Director Dr. Lokesh, Principal Dr. Vishal Kumar, Medical Superintendent Somashekhar, District Surgeon Nanjunde, CAO, teaching and non-teaching faculty, loved ones and his beloved students.
Having taught for many years as a professor of biochemistry, Dr. Cariappa is prepared to begin this new chapter and shall continue to educate tomorrow’s medical professionals.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Kallichanda Cariappa wholeheartedly thanks the people of Kodagu for all their support and prays that Swamy Igguthappa and Goddess Kaveramme will continue to shower blessings upon our people and that KOIMS will carry-forward it’s legacy.
