Officials of the Karnataka Lokayukta visited the Regional Transport Office (RTO) on the outskirts of Madikeri recently and collected documents as part of an inquiry initiated following the recent visit of Deputy Lokayukta Justice K.N. Phaneendra.
Justice Phaneendra had made a surprise inspection of the Regional Transport Office on July 4. Acting on his directions, Lokayukta officials revisited the office to collect records and information relating to the issues identified during the inspection.
Clarifying the purpose of the visit, Lokayukta Deputy Superintendent of Police Dinakar Shetty stated that the officials had visited the office solely to gather information and inspect relevant files in accordance with the Deputy Lokayukta’s directions.
He clarified that the exercise was not a raid, but part of the follow-up inquiry ordered by the Deputy Lokayukta.
Lokayukta Inspector Veenanayak and other officials were present during the inspection.
