Madikeri MLA Dr. Mantar Gowda on Friday performed the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of an automated driving test track at the Regional Transport Office (RTO) premises on the outskirts of Madikeri.
The project, estimated to cost Rs. 4.83 crore, will be developed on 2.12 acres of land to modernise the driving licence testing process in the district.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Gowda said the automated driving test track would significantly enhance the quality and transparency of driving licence tests while providing improved facilities for the public.
He stated that the project had received approval from the Government and expressed his gratitude to the Hon’ble Transport Minister for extending the necessary support to sanction the work.
The MLA said the new facility would help applicants undergo driving tests in a more systematic and scientific manner, thereby improving road safety and ensuring greater efficiency in the licensing process.
Explaining the project, the Executive Engineer of the Mysuru Division said the automated driving test track would be constructed by the KSRTC Civil Engineering Division, Bengaluru, at an estimated cost of Rs. 4.83 crore.
He added that the work is scheduled to be completed within 12 months, subject to favourable weather conditions.
Speaking on the occasion, Thennira Maina, District President of the Rajiv Gandhi Panchayat Raj Organisation, appreciated Dr. Mantar Gowda for securing substantial government funding for developmental works in the Madikeri Assembly constituency.
He said several infrastructure projects are being implemented in the constituency and commended the MLA’s efforts in bringing development funds to the district.
