Art contributes to personality development of students: Major Prof. Raghava B.
Emphasising the importance of art in the holistic growth of students, Major Prof. Raghava B. called upon students to make effective use of platforms that help showcase artistic talent.
He was speaking after inaugurating the talent-search art festival “Kala Vaibhav,” organised by Field Marshal K.M. Cariappa College of Kodagu University in Madikeri.
He said art plays an important role in the personality development of students and noted that the college has been working towards the all-round development of students alongside academics. “Kala Vaibhav is part of this effort,” he said, urging students to make use of such opportunities to showcase their talents.

Major Prof. Raghava further stated that educational institutions work selflessly to mould responsible citizens and added that collective support from society would contribute to the growth of both the institution and its students.
Speaking as the chief guest, Dr. Sridhar Hegde, Convener of the F.M.K.M. Cariappa College Students’ Union, praised the organisation of the “Kala Vaibhav” programme, stating that it served as an example for identifying and encouraging student talent.
He observed that there are 64 forms of art and stressed the importance of preserving and passing on artistic skills to future generations through such platforms. He also encouraged students of the arts stream to excel academically.
Prof. Dr. Krishna, Head of the Department of Zoology, said that programmes of this nature help institutions progress and noted that the activities of Cariappa College had earned recognition across the district through the participation of students from various colleges.

Dr. Nayana Kashyap, Head of the Department of English, said many students possess hidden talent but often lack the right platform to express themselves. She said organising such programmes helps nurture and encourage creativity.
Referring to the institution’s legacy, she noted that F.M. K. M Cariappa College has served the region for nearly 77 years and has shaped the lives of thousands of students through quality education.
The programme featured a variety of competitions and performances, including group dance, singing, drama, mono acting, rangoli, fireless cooking and group discussions. Students from various colleges across the district participated enthusiastically in the “Kala Vaibhav” programme.
Head of the Department of Economics Prof. Thippeswamy, programme coordinator Dr. A.N. Gayathri, English Department lecturer Dr. Deena M.P., Journalism Department lecturer Monica A.N., Microbiology Department lecturer Dr. Soumya Krishna Murthy, Geography Department lecturer Dr. Bairavi, Student Organisation Coordinator T.V. Varsha and others were present.
