Coorg Wildlife Society(CWS) is organising a unique nature-based learning programme titled “Wings & Wild Groves” on May 20, 2026, aimed at introducing children and young explorers to birdwatching and the ecological and cultural significance of sacred groves, locally known as Devara kaadus.
The programme, themed “Bird Watching for Beginners & An Insight into the Devara Kaadu,” will be held at the Kunda foothills and Kirgoor Devarakaadu.
The event is designed to provide participants with an immersive experience in birdwatching while helping them understand the rich traditions and ecological importance of Coorg’s sacred groves. The initiative seeks to encourage children to connect with nature through observation, learning and outdoor exploration.
The event will feature guided sessions encouraging participants to “listen to the forest, learn to see the birds, and understand the sacred groves.”
Age Criteria
The programme is open to children and young explorers aged between 8 and 18 years.
Children below the age of 12 must be accompanied by a guardian.
The entire event will be supervised and guided by CWS Member, Pattada Bopanna, who has 15 years of experience in the field.
The registration fee for the event is Rs. 500 per participant, which includes breakfast and lunch.
