The Agriculture Department has made it mandatory for farmers to possess a Farmer ID (FID) to purchase fertilisers, in a move aimed at regulating distribution and preventing black marketing.
Farmers are required to link their land records to the FID, following which fertilisers will be distributed through the K-Kisan technology platform based on crop and land details.
Officials stated that disruptions in the import of raw materials due to global conflicts could lead to reduced fertiliser production, necessitating stricter monitoring.
To curb misuse, fertiliser dealers have been instructed to sell only through the designated system and adhere to prescribed prices. Violations could result in suspension or cancellation of licences.
Farmers have been advised to visit nearest Farmer Contact Centres or the Horticulture Department offices with relevant documents to obtain or update their FID.
