Souharda Cup Cricket: Media Super Kings Emerge Champions

Media Super Kings clinched the championship title in the district-level turf “Souharda Cup” cricket tournament jointly organized by Kodagu Press Club Souharda  Sahakari Sangha Limited and the Virajpet Taluk Working Journalists’ Association.

Eight teams participated in the tournament held at Siddapur. In the final match, Media Super Kings secured victory with strong performances from Jayaprakash (26 runs), Ismail (28 runs), and Rejith (18 runs.

Earlier rounds saw competitive matches, including a tied qualifier resolved by a super over.

Awards were distributed to outstanding players, including Best Batsman, Best Bowler, Man of the Series, and others.

The tournament was inaugurated by international rugby player Madanda Thimmaiah, who highlighted the importance of sports in relieving stress among journalists.

Speakers at the event emphasized the need for physical fitness and unity through sports.

A suggestion was also made to establish a turf ground in the district center.
