The Taluk-Level Child Labour Elimination and Rehabilitation Committee Task Force meeting was held recently under the chairmanship of Madikeri Tahsildar Sridhar.
During the meeting, officials were directed to strictly implement the guidelines of the Karnataka State Commission for Protection of Child Rights.
It was stated that inspectors appointed under the Child and Adolescent Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Act, 1986 (Amended 2016), would conduct regular inspections of shops and commercial establishments within their jurisdictions.
To ensure compliance and move towards a child labour-free taluk, authorities were instructed to obtain self-declaration letters from owners of industries and plantations. Inspectors were also directed to intensify inspections, conduct awareness campaigns, and submit monthly reports to the Office of the Senior Labour Inspector or the Project Director of the District Child Labour Scheme Society.
The meeting was attended by Senior Labour Inspector M.A.A. Yathnati, Sumati (Special Juvenile Police Unit), Education Coordinator Janet, CDPO Seethalakshmi, Social Welfare Officer Virupaksha, Backward Classes Welfare Officer Srikanth, Municipal Councillor Suresh, Health Inspector Palaksha, Project Director R. Sheeraj Ahmed, and staff members.
