Oath-Taking Ceremony of Nursing Students Held

The lamp-lighting and oath-taking ceremony of the sixth batch of B.Sc. Nursing students at the Government Nursing College, Kodagu Institute of Medical Sciences, was held recently with great enthusiasm.

The programme commenced with a prayer by fourth-year B.Sc. Nursing student Ashita, followed by the formal inauguration through the lighting of the ceremonial lamp in the presence of distinguished guests. The event was conducted under the guidance of Dean and Director Dr. Lokesh A.J.

In her introductory address, Principal Manjula A.K. described the ceremony as a sacred and traditional ritual of the nursing profession. She advised students to carry out their duties with a strong sense of service and discipline. The students later lit the lamp and took the professional oath.

Associate Professor Gurupada K.P., speaking on the occasion, highlighted the achievements of the institution, noting with pride that nearly 100 students graduate annually and serve both in India and abroad.

Associate Professor Martin Luther King elaborated on the role of nursing students in hospitals and stressed the importance of compassionate and humane patient care. Chief Administrator Rohini K.M. stated that students are the backbone of the institution and expressed confidence in its continued growth through their dedication and hard work.

In his presidential address, Dr. Vishal Kumar, Principal of Kodagu Institute of Medical Sciences, spoke about the responsibilities, ethical values, and importance of the nursing profession.

The programme was attended by faculty members, including Professor Deepraj C.M., Assistant Professors Ashwini K.N., Ranjini S.N., and Geetha K.B., along with Dr. Suhas (Physiology), Dr. Mahesh (Community Health), Dr. Saravana, Dr. Kritika, Librarian Dr. Swami Nayak, staff, students, and parents.

The programme was compered by fourth-year students Chandana and Veda. Jeevitha welcomed the gathering, and Krishika delivered the vote of thanks.
