Forest Minister Eshwar B. Khandre has directed officials to ensure proper maintenance of elephant trenches and solar fencing to address human-elephant conflict in Kodagu.
At a review meeting held in Bengaluru, he noted that 38% of wildlife-related deaths in the state occur in Kodagu and called for enhanced patrolling and rapid response systems.
He also instructed officials to improve communication systems for real-time alerts and ensure adequate water and fodder for wildlife during summer.
