Speakers at an International Women’s Day programme emphasised the need for education and equal opportunities for women.
The event was organised by Mahilodaya Mahila Kokku in association with the District Legal Services Authority and the Women and Child Development Department.

Inaugurating the programme, First Additional District and Sessions Judge G. Surendra highlighted the significant contributions of women across fields and urged parents to prioritise girls’ education.
Senior Civil Judge C. Veerabhadraiah noted that women now hold around 20% of judicial positions and stressed the importance of utilising legal provisions for empowerment.

Deputy Director Prasanna Kumar encouraged women to become self-reliant and make use of government schemes, including the 181 Women’s Helpline.
Speakers also underscored the need to eliminate gender discrimination and promote equality through education and awareness.
