Planter Killed in Wild Elephant Attack in Kodagu

A coffee planter was killed in a wild elephant attack near High School Paisari in the Siddapur region of Virajpet taluk in Kodagu district.

The deceased has been identified as ChowriraGanapathi (Gappu), 49. The incident occurred when he went to inspect his coffee plantation. A wild elephant that had entered the plantation attacked him, resulting in his death.

Police and Forest Department officials visited the spot and conducted an inspection. Local residents have expressed anger over the continued incidents of elephant attacks in the region and urged authorities to take permanent measures to prevent such occurrences.
