Caretaker Arrested for Theft in Madikeri

Madikeri City Police have arrested a man accused of stealing gold jewellery and cash from a residence while posing as a home nursing caretaker.

The accused, identified as Bhadrappa Basappa Hadapada (27) from Vijayapura district, was taken into custody. Police recovered ?5.09 lakh in cash, 137 grams of gold jewellery, and a mobile phone from him.

According to police, the accused had secured employment using a fake identity to care for an elderly person.

A complaint was registered on February 28 following the theft.

Investigations revealed that the accused had prior involvement in a theft case in Davangere. A special team was formed to trace and apprehend him.
