Madikeri MLA Dr. Mantar Gowda has sanctioned Rs15 lakh from the MLA Local Area Development Fund for the construction of a hi-tech bus stop on Mysuru Road near General Thimmaiah Circle (G.T. Circle) in Madikeri. The project will be executed by the Panchayat Raj Engineering Department, Madikeri, according to Kodagu District Congress spokesperson Thennira Maina.
The proposed bus stop will feature modern seating arrangements and toilet facilities. The groundbreaking ceremony was recently held.
General Thimmaiah Circle, located in the district headquarters, witnesses heavy daily footfall, including commuters travelling to Bengaluru and Mysuru and visitors to the Kodagu District Hospital. Despite being a key transit point, the area lacked adequate public toilet facilities. The initiative has been welcomed as a much-needed civic improvement benefiting both residents and travellers.
