Dean of Kodagu Institute of Medical Sciences and Teaching Hospital Dr. Lokesh assured that the district hospital will emphasize public-friendly services and corrective measures to address public grievances.

He was speaking during an interaction programme organized by the Kodagu District Working Journalists’ Association at Patrika Bhawan.

Journalists raised concerns regarding staff behaviour, delays in treatment, parking issues, shortage of doctors, and facilities in the women and children’s department.       Responding, Dr. Lokesh said training workshops would be conducted to improve staff behaviour. Help desks have been established and will be strengthened. Plans are underway to resolve parking issues by utilizing nearby hospital land.

He acknowledged a 28 percent shortage of doctors and said recruitment has been initiated. He also informed that a chemo centre has been approved, a critical care unit will be completed by May, and cardiology services are being strengthened.

Journalists Association President Bachiraniyanda Anu Cariappa said the objective of the interaction was to improve public healthcare services through constructive dialogue.
