The 5th edition of the Muckatira Cariappa Memorial Golf Championship 2026 was held on 18 January 2026, witnessing enthusiastic participation and competitive performances across multiple categories. The prestigious tournament featured Open, Handicap, Stableford, and Senior events, with several rolling trophies up for grabs.
Captain of MDGC, Muthanna Cariappa, extended a warm welcome to the gathering and the chief guests.
The results are as follows:
In the Open Strokeplay (Rolling Trophy) category, Mali Shashi Kiran emerged as the champion, while Amogh Devaiah secured the runner-up position.
The Handicap Strokeplay (0–18) Rolling Trophy, instituted in memory of Late M.C. Nanjappa, was won by B.M. Nachappa, who returned an impressive 67 net score. B.E. Bojanna finished runner-up with 72 net.

In the Handicap Stableford (0–18) category, C.M. Appanna clinched the title with 36 points, followed by K. Muthanna Thimmaiah with 34 points.

The Handicap Stableford (19–24) event saw Dr. B.B. Bopanna take top honours with 40 points, while Dr. K.A. Nanjappa finished runner-up with 36 points.
Among Senior Citizens above 65 years (Handicap Stableford 0–24), Guru Mallesh claimed the winner’s position with 40 points, and M.A. Poonacha secured second place with 29 points.

In the Seniors Open Strokeplay (60 years and above) category, P.K. Bopanna won with a gross score of 87, edging past Kalaiah P.E, who finished runner-up with 88 gross.
Special prizes were also awarded during the championship. Chengappa K.K. won the Longest Drive with a powerful shot measuring 261 yards. I.K. Ponnappa recorded the most number of birdies, finishing with five birdies, while Rajesh Gupta claimed the Closest to the Pin award with a precise shot landing 15 feet from the pin. The award for most number of pars went to Mali Shashi Kiran, who recorded 13 pars during the tournament .
The championship concluded on a high note, reinforcing its reputation as one of the prominent golfing events commemorating the legacy of Muckatira Cariappa.
