Kodagu District Cooperative Central Bank President K.P. Ganapathy said that the cooperative sector can grow only when cooperative institutions function with transparency and are free from corruption.

He was speaking while inaugurating an educational programme on the latest Cooperative Act amendments, GST, and Income Tax for executives of PACS, DCC Bank, APCMS, and Honey Cooperative Societies, organised at the Kodagu District Cooperative Union Hall under the joint auspices of the Karnataka State Cooperative Federation and the Kodagu District Cooperative Union.

Recalling Kodagu’s past reputation as a model district in the cooperative sector, he expressed concern over the gradual entry of corruption and called upon all stakeholders to introspect and adopt good governance practices. He stressed continuous learning, discipline, punctuality, and adherence to legal provisions Union President P.U. Robin Devaiah said frequent changes in cooperative laws required officers to remain updated.

He noted that the establishment of the Union Ministry of Cooperatives had strengthened the sector by providing policy support and legal frameworks.

A silent tribute was paid to late senior cooperative leader and Cooperative Ratna awardee Kumarappa. Post-inaugural sessions featured lectures by retired Registrar Dr. Guruswamy and Chartered Accountant A. Gopalakrishna.
