Sainik School Kodagu celebrated Army Day with solemn pride and patriotic fervour on 19
January 2026, though Army Day is officially observed on 15 January each year. The celebration aimed to honour the valour, sacrifice, and selfless service of Indian Army
personnel who have dedicated their lives to safeguarding the nation’s independence and
sovereignty.

A special assembly was organised in remembrance of the brave soldiers who have
sacrificed their best for the country. The programme began with the stirring IMA Song,
sung by the cadets of Katari House, setting a dignified and patriotic tone for the occasion.
This was followed by a thought for the day, poem recitation, and a PowerPoint presentation highlighting various aspects of the Indian Army and its operations.

The presentations by Cadet Danish Ahmed and Cadet Nishanth Narayan offered valuable
insights into the role of the Indian Army during both wartime and peacetime, helping cadets understand its multifaceted responsibilities beyond the battlefield.

Adding a powerful emotional dimension to the programme, a skit written and directed by
Cadet Samrat of class XI was enacted depicting an anecdote from the life of Grenadier
Subedar Major, Honorary Captain Yogendra Singh Yadav, a living Param Vir Chakra
awardee, inspiring the audience with his courage, resilience, and dedication.

Addressing the gathering, the Principal emphasised the core values for which the Indian
Army is renowned—commitment, character, integrity, loyalty, moral courage, and discipline
—and urged cadets to imbibe these qualities in their own lives.

The programme witnessed the presence of all Officers, cadets, academic staff, NCC and
PI staff, and administrative staff, making the celebration a meaningful tribute to the Indian
Army and its glorious legacy
